Deskripsi Lomba

Participants in LaurensiaMUN 2024 will register through Google Forms during two phases: Early Bird and Regular Registration. They must indicate their first and second choices of councils and topics, along with their personal details. Delegates are required to submit a Position Paper by November 2, 2024, which outlines their country’s stance on the assigned issues and proposed resolutions; this submission is mandatory for council allocation and eligibility for awards. During committee sessions, delegates will present their positions, negotiate, and collaborate to draft resolutions, following a structured format that includes various types of caucuses. The event is open to junior and senior high school students all over Indonesia, with no price differences for delegates, and awards will be given based on participation in committee sessions.

Ketentuan Lomba

  • Registration
    In this stage, participants will register through the Google Forms provided within the 2 phases conducted (i.e. Early Bird and regular Phase Registration). Participants are expected to fill in their first and second choice of councils and topics, alongside their identity for registration purposes. For more information, refer to the subheading, ‘Registration Procedures’.
  • Position Papers
    Before the committee sessions, delegates are required to conduct research; consecutively writing a Position Paper identifying their background issue, determining their country/figure stance, and proposing resolutions by their country/figure. Participants are expected to send the Position Papers by the 2nd of November 2024, 23:59. Note that POSITION PAPERS ARE DEEMED MANDATORY FOR COUNCIL ALLOCATION. Any delegate that fails to submit their Position Paper, will lead to ineligibility receiving any award.
  • Committee Sessions
    During a committee session, delegates present their countries' positions, negotiate, and work collaboratively to draft resolutions or come up with solutions to the problems or topics at hand. The committee session follows a structured format, opening the floor to several types of caucus/others:
    • Moderated Caucus, where delegates are mandated to only hold speeches based on the topic at hand within the order of the Chair.
    • Unmoderated Caucus, where delegates are set upon a freeform debate to look for cooperation, negotiation, etc. General rules still apply (i.e. Having a certain duration), however, the Chair will not put any country in order.
    • Consultation of The Whole, where discussion is conducted without the chair’s moderation and is initiated by a country, moderated by the delegates without a set speaking time. It is an informal consultation of the entire council, where the rules of parliamentary processes are suspended.

  • Participants
    The participants of LaurensiaMUN 2024 shall be students of Junior-High Schools (SMP) and/or Senior-High Schools (SMA) all over Indonesia, registered as active students in the relevant schools. Registrations for delegations are opened, however there will be NO PRICE DIFFERENCES for each delegate. Delegations, however, are registered for the Best Delegation Award.
  • Awarding Delegates are required to attend all 6 out of 6 Committee Sessions to be eligible for awards, and a minimum of 4 out of 6 Committee Sessions to receive a Certificate of Participation
